Belated update

Hey folks! I'm sorry for the belated update on our Arkansas trip. When we got to Waldron, much to our chagrin, we had no cell phone or internet service. You should have seen us walking around the campground for 2 days trying to catch a signal with our phones so that we could make a quick call home. I'm sure it was quiet comical at times. That explains the phone booth that they had right in the middle of the campground. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. Then we got back Friday morning at about 7 am and I spent the next 2 days trying to get rid of "bus lag", then there were the festivities surrounding Father's Day. It's been wild around home for us all.

Turkey Track was a very beautiful campground that was down in a hole between two ridges. We had a great time playing, but it sure was hot! We appreciate Troy Engle going along with us and helping us out on banjo and fiddle. He is very talented and an all around great guy to hang out with.

The stage at Turkey Track was really cool. It had a lots of wood work and ornamentation around it, but the thing that caught our attention, was a great big American flag as the back drop. I don't think enough people these days honor our flag and this country enough. Seeing the flag inspired us to do something we had never done before. For our encore number for the Thursday evening show, we did an a capella version of "God Bless America". It was awesome to see the crowd of around 1,ooo people rise to their feet in honor of their country and our flag. Some were waving thier hats, some were smiling, others had tears in their eyes. It was an awesome night!

Once again, the bus performed flawlessly, well almost. We were riding along Friday morning, somewhere in Mississippi at about 3 in the morning, when all of the sudden the door just opened up! We hadn't hit a bump or anything it just opened up! As you can imagine, it scared me to death. Lorne was asleep on the couch in the front lounge and everyone else was asleep in the bunks. I was able to wake Lorne to come up and close it and we made the remainder of the trip without incident. By the way, we think the reason for the thud that we heard on the trip out there was the result of us loosing our center hub cover off of the front wheel. It is no big deal because the piece only serves as a cover and is not really functional.

Be sure to check back often, as there are some exciting things happening in the TBSP camp that I hope to be able to tell you about real soon.

Later,
Wayne

Almost there....

Good afternoon. We are getting close to Waldron. We stopped in Little Rock for a few hours and slept. We also visited Camping World while we were there. We are still on bad roads, so sleep is out of the question at the moment.

We are looking forward to playing tonight at the Turkey Track festival. We hope to see everyone out there!

Here we go again...

Hey everybody. It's 3:15 in the morning as I write this and we are bouncing our way across Arkansas. You folks in Arkansas need to write your Congressman about these roads! We are on our way to Waldron, AR for the Turkey Tracks Bluegrass Festival. We have our good friend Troy Engle along to help us out on the banjo. Weston had some school matters to attend to that prevented him from making the trip with us. For those of you keeping score at home, this is Troy's second trip out with us. Apparently he is a glutton for punishment.

So far, nothing really interesting has happened other than being scared out of our minds back in Mississippi. We apparently ran over something because we heard a loud thud while we were motoring across the middle of nowhere at about 70 miles an hour. We finally found a place to pull over and got out and inspected the bus. Everything seemed to be in order so we got back on our way.

Be sure to check back later, as I will be updating as often as I can to keep you posted on the happenings from the big city of Waldron. I think I heard them say that we are close to stopping for the night and that makes me happy. It's really hard to sleep on these Arkansas roads.

Back after some sleep (fingers crossed!)...

Update on the release party

Hello all. We had a blast Tuesday night in Anderson, AL. We were there for our cd release party. Even though we already had the cd for a week or so, this made it official! We sincerely want to thank everyone who came out and celebrated the long awaited release of this project. We had fun meeting all of you who attended and thanks for making us feel so at home.

Friday night, June 11th we will be at the Ninth Grade Academy in Fayetteville, TN. This is a benefit for Hospice of Lincoln County. Hospice is an invaluable service to terminally ill patients. A hospice nurse is not a job I envy at all. I do respect each and every person involved in the Hospice organization. Until you have seen first hand, as I have, how Hospice nurses care for a patient and help families deal with such a difficult time, you may not fully appreciate the importance and value of this service. We are honored to be a part of this fund raiser. We welcome all to come out and support this cause.

It's going to be a busy weekend and will continue right on through next week. Be sure to check back often, as I will update as often as time permits with (hopefully) interesting stories from the road and to tell you about where we've been.

Back in a bit,
Wayne
